Stella Joyce-Krall is a writer from Madison, WI who holds an MFA in fiction from NYU. Her current novel-in-progress was recently named a top-22 semifinalist for the James Jones First Novel Fellowship (out of 575 submissions) and a finalist for the 2026 William Faulkner–William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition. She attended the 2026 Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and her work has received support from the Great River Writers Residency and won the Stockholm Writers Festival First Five Pages grand prize. A previous manuscript was also longlisted for the Faulkner–Wisdom Competition. In previous lives, she worked as a primatologist and a bioethicist.
